Colonel Sanders Transparent Squash

Notes:
This recipe came from a booklet Colonel Sanders put out in 1964. The wording is extremely choppy, but these are the Colonel's recipes. He did not include his Chicken Recipe in this booklet.

Ingredients:
3 C. Acorn or Hubbard Squash
1 tsp. Mace
1/2 C. Sugar
1/3 C. melted Butter
2 C. Water
Pinch of Salt

Preparation:
Cut the squash in cubes about 3/4 or 1 inch in size. Then sprinkle on the mace and salt. Add sugar, butter, and water, which should completely cover the squash. Then simmer slowly until the squash appears transparent and has taken in the butter and the sugar.
